Putnam County High School Interact Club

The PCHS Interact Club was chartered in 2008 and has a membership of 40-60 students each year. Sponsored by Granville Rotary, Interact's primary purpose is to provide opportunities for Putnam County High School students to become involved in community service within the school, throughout the community, and across the globe.

Members build leadership and team-work skills, in organizational aspects of club management as well as in the execution of club projects. Interact members promote, and have the opportunity to participate in, Rotary International youth exchange programs and to meet exchange students from other countries. Additionally, Club members have many opportunities to meet members of other Interact Clubs and Rotarians within the local Club and throughout the Rotary's northern Illinois Rotary District.

PCHS Interact is one of nearly 11,000 Interact Clubs spanning 109 countries and geographic areas, with a membership of nearly 200,000 students throughout the world. Recognized world-wide, the experiences gained as members of Interact enhance the resumé of young adults applying for jobs, colleges, scholarships and vocational careers.

PCHS Interact has initiated many of its own projects, and assists other community organizations as needed to support their activities as well. In fact, they have become the "go to" Club for service organizations throughout Putnam County needing extra assistance for service projects and fundraisers.

Projects this year have included participation with CPASA in the statewide "Sticker Shock" Program, primary responsibility for two Red Cross Blood Drives co-hosted with Granville Rotary, volunteer help with projects benefiting senior citizens, children, and other groups, participation in the PC Schools' "Partners In Education" workshops, help with Rotary's delivery of nearly 700 poinsettia plants to senior citizens just prior to Christmas, and assistance in preparation for Rotary's annual Afterglow event providing safe, substance-free post-prom activities. The Club also sponsored a ski trip in January to Cascade Mountain in Wisconsin and two sophomore members were sponsored by Granville Rotary to attend Rotary's Youth Leadership Awards weekend camp experience at Lowden State Park near Oregon, Illinois.
